Hank Williams Jr.'s "Bocephus" is his 25th studio album, and was nearing the end of his prolific, though nearly forgotten MGM Era. This was the second last album recorded/released before his mountain accident which occured in August 1975.

Earlier in his career, his music imitated his fathers reminiscent style of gospel, honky tonk, and sad ballads. However, as we got closer to 1975 we began to see changes in his music. Living Proof, the album released the year prior was the very beginning of his changes you hear, with this album including dated, though nostalgic ballads also included more rock oriented tracks to the likes of what we know Bocephus had become after his accident. He had grown tired of living in his fathers shadow and wanted to pave himself a legacy for people to remember him by. This album is a lost gem inbetween his imitation era and his outlaw career.
