Here's my simple, easy planer in feed out feed table alignment technique using a planer sled and clamps to ensure the tables are perfectly aligned with no fuss. This is the fastest method I've ever seen with bullet proof results. I'm doing this on my DeWalt DW735, but the same method can be done on any planer.

The in feed and out feed tables are there to help reduce snipe by keeping the board flat as it enters the cutter head and exits the head when it's only supported by one roller. The tables extend the planer bed to provide support for the board so it does not tip up into the cutter, causing snipe. But those tables won't do anything unless they are perfectly in line with the bed of the planer.
