In a match-up of two top, once-beaten lightweight contenders, southpaws Jamel Herring and Ladarius Miller put on a show on FS1 to kick off the highly anticipated Mayweather-McGregor Fight Week.

Herring, a 2012 Olympian, took a bit to get going in the early rounds, while Miller's youth and eagerness showed. Herring began to show the value of experience, though, in the middle rounds, making the fight look pretty even to head into the stretch run.

The similar styles between the two fighters made for an entertaining, all-action bout that featured several thrilling exchanges. Miller never relented, despite starting bleeding from the nose in the middle rounds, and stayed aggressive through the finish line, and his hand speed helped create a late edge.

When all was said and done, Miller continued on his win streak, taking a Unanimous Decision victory (98-92, 97-93 x2) to improve to 14-1 (4 KO). For Herring, he fell to 16-2 (9 KO), though both should continue to factor into the 135-pound picture in the foreseeable future.
