Anti-abortion gunman kills two women

A nationwide manhunt for a gunman who killed two women and wounded
five people in attacks on two Boston abortion clinics was called
off on Saturday (31/12) when police arrested a student hairstylist
after an attack on a third clinic in Norfolk, Virginia. The chase
ended when 22-year-old John Salvi tossed a gun out of the window
of his black pick-up truck and surrendered as dozens of police
weapons were aimed at him. Several hundred federal agents and
police were involved in the hunt for Salvi after the FBI linked
him to a gun and a receipt found at the scene of Friday's attacks
on the Boston clinics. No one was hurt in Saturday's shooting.
Salvi was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and five
counts of violent assault with intent to murder. He was accused of
murdering two women and wounding five other people in two separate
attacks about 10 minutes apart at the Planned Parenthood and
Preterm Health Services clinics. The two clinics, both well-known
as the scenes of frequent demonstrations by anti-abortion
protestors, are about a mile and half apart on the same street.
