Shane: Hey guys, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2020 Range Rover Velar, and I want to walk through how to install the Draw-Tite Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver. Adding a hitch like this on your vehicle is going to give you a lot of different options. You want to put a cargo carrier on it, maybe a bike rack. Maybe you want to pull a small trailer. Cargo carrier, you're going to be able to get items from inside the vehicle, put them on the cargo carrier to make more room for your passengers.

Bike racks, we're not going to have to load them inside the vehicle or potentially up on top of the vehicle. It's going to be a steel construction, black powder coat finish. You can see it's completely hidden behind the bumper fascia. Having a black powder coat finish is really going to help resist any rust or corrosion. And when you're not hauling anything, you can simply re-install your panel underneath and it completely hides the hitch. So it really maintains a nice clean look on the vehicle. It's going to give us a 2" by 2" receiver tube opening.

Hitch pin hole is going to be 5/8" in diameter. It's going to take a standard 5/8 hitch pin. The hitch pin and clip does not come with this hitch. However, it can be found here at etrailer. We're going to have rolled steel safety chain loops.

You can see very large openings, will accept the very large, different size safety chain hooks. Now I'm going to give you a few measurements and weight ratings to help you when deciding on any of your hitch mount accessories that you may need such as a bike rack, ball mounts or cargo carriers. From the center of your hitch pin hole to the outermost part of your bumper is going to be about 6-1/2". That number is important for any of your hitch mount accessories that may fold up against your vehicle. From the ground to the top inner most part of the receiver tube is going to be about 21". That number is important for any of your hitch mount accessories that may require a little bit more ground clearance. As far as our weight ratings go, we're going to have a 900 pound max tongue weight, which is the downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube.

So if you're putting that cargo carrier on there, bike rack, you're hauling a trailer, you want to make sure you're not exceeding that downward pressure. We're going to have a 6,000 pound gross trailer weight, which is the trailer plus the load included. I always recommend checking the owner's manual of the vehicle. Make sure the vehicle can withstand that amount of weight. You're going to go with the lowest number between the vehicle and the hitch. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's walk you through how to get it installed. To start our installation, we need to remove our tail lights. We're going to start with this plastic panel here. Take a trim panel tool, just going to work it in between the tail light and the panel. We're going to pop that loose. And then we'll set that aside. Take a large Flathead screwdriver. We're going to remove this screw. We're going to take our light and we're going to slide it back. And we need to disconnect our wiring. We're going to push on this black tab over the plug. Then we'll set our tail light aside. Take a 10 millimeter socket. We're going to remove this bolt. And we're going to take a trim panel tool, we're going to remove this plastic plug. You're going to repeat that same process on the other side.Next we need to remove this plastic piece that runs across here. It's kind of hard to see so I pulled a couple of them out. This little tab locks down underneath it here. Take a trim panel tool. You're going to slide it in there and kind of push that back as much as you can and then pop that out and you just work your way across until we get it all the way loose. So make sure you're using plastic so you don't mess up the paint, but the two end ones might be a little bit hard to get out. You take your trim panel tool, find the center of it, go in and kind of go down and pry back, you can get the end ones up. Pop this out and we'll set this aside. Once you get that off, take a trim panel tool, we're going to have four pushpin fasteners that run across the top of this. We need to remove each one of those. Pry out the center and then pull up the base. Going to do that with the three remaining.Take a Flathead screwdriver. We're going to remove this center panel. They just have some plastic fasteners. You just turn them and they'll drop out. Pop this out and set it aside. And we're going to take a 10 millimeter socket, we're going t
