What questions should I ask my pelvic pain specialist? Dr. Ally explains what you should ask at your provider visit to help you receive the best treatment for your condition.

Dr. Allyson Shrikhande is a board certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist, Chief Medical Officer of Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine, and an expert in women’s and men’s health and sexual health. Dr. Shrikhande is passionate about this cause and dedicated to helping women and men with pelvic pain who often suffer without anyone willing to listen, understand or find the cause of their pain.

At Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine, our pelvic pain specialists provide a functional, rehab approach to pelvic pain. When you visit one of our offices, you spend an hour with your doctor reviewing in detail your medical history and symptoms. Then, we perform an internal exam (no speculum) to evaluate your nerves and muscles. Together, we'll discuss an individual treatment plan that gets to the root cause of your pain and helps you to feel better. The best part: you can begin treatment the same day!

At PRM, our mission is to decrease the time patients are suffering from pelvic pain symptoms.

Hi everyone, Dr. Ally here. What are some good questions to ask your pelvic pain doctor? Some good questions would be to ask what they may think is the cause of your underlying pelvic pain symptoms. Also to ask them if there is a possible treatment option and what are the multiple options that may exist to help you start feeling better.

Definitely ask if there is any further imaging that may be required. Definitely ask their approach to treating pelvic pain and also ask about any potential side effects or risks that may come with the treatments that they're offering.
