In 2005 Red Bull decided not to only want to sponsor Austria Salzburg, they wanted all - from colours, to crest, to name - and that infuriated the club's fans.

After weeks of protests and rejection, Austria Salzburg became Red Bull Salzburg, and their traditional purple colours became red and white.

A large portion of the supporters formed their own club a year later, keeping the original name and history. 18 years later, on 26/9/23, the teams finally play against each other in the cup. A historical moment - and while RB Salzburg clearly won 4:0 on the pitch - the fans made the match memorable.
