Founded following the civil war of the Horus Heresy, with the Master of Mankind forever interred upon the Golden Throne Humanity began to perceive his presence as deific in nature.

Taking solace in the knowledge that the Emperor protected His subjects from threats both chaotic and alien in nature, soon the Imperial Cult would encompass the vast majority of the species in their search for meaning in a broken galaxy.
