This video is Part 3 of the XP600 print head alignment series, where I focus on the DC motor and explain its direct relationship with carriage movement, dot placement, and print accuracy.

Unlike stepper motors that control paper feeding, the DC motor controls the carriage movement of the print head. If this motor is not properly synchronized, even a perfectly aligned stepper motor and clean encoder film will still result in:

Shadowing

Double images

Blurred text

Inaccurate dot placement

In this video, I explain what the DC motor actually does, how it interacts with the encoder system, and why poor DC motor behavior breaks piezoelectric ink spraying accuracy.
