From 2003 to 2008, The Trojans had seven consecutive BCS bowl appearances, six BCS bowl victories, two National Championships (2003 and 2004), and a record-setting 33 consecutive weeks ranked No. 1 in the AP poll.

The 2004 season culminated in a blowout win over Oklahoma in the BCS Championship, solidifying USC as a dynasty.

Carroll also helped develop some of the most talented players in college football history. Among the stars he coached:

1. *Reggie Bush* – The electrifying running back won the Heisman Trophy in 2005 (later vacated but then given back earlier this year) and was arguably the most dynamic player in college football during his era.
2. *Matt Leinart* – Carroll helped Leinart grow into a Heisman-winning quarterback and a leader of one of the greatest offenses in college football history.
3. *Troy Polamalu* – Known for his hard-hitting and game-changing plays, Polamalu became a future NFL Hall of Famer and one of the greatest defensive backs ever.

However, the most defining moment in the Pete Carroll era would be the 2006 Rose Bowl, the national championship showdown between USC and the Texas Longhorns.
