4 Findings... 1) It is possible to empty BIC ignite strips of Gorilla tape, but not practicle. The slow grinding away of the mini ferro rod inside the BIC to create a pile of grindings to place close to the ball of tape strips to ignite with the rotary striker should work, if you have that much patience.

2) The 1/8" and smaller strips of the tape are very slow to ignite with a 3 1/8" x 5/16" bayite ferro rod. When you do get a small flame, it can be blown out easily by a small breeze. Yesterday, it took 6 strikes of the ferro rod to get a flame which blew out, 6 more strikes to got that tinder bundle to successfully ignite. The 2nd tape tinder bundle that I tried from yesterday, took 6 strikes to successfully ignite; and today's? It took 11 strikes. Luckily, the wind did not blow it out.

3) The "Usable Burn Time" for 12" of the approximately 2" wide tape was 5 minutes. Great for igniting damp tinders and kindlings.

4) A Magnolia leaf made a great tray to work off of and barrior to keep the burning blob of tape from sticking to the table.
