Choose the right primitive: queue (point‑to‑point), pub/sub (fanout), or stream (ordered log). Clarify ordering and delivery semantics (at‑most/at‑least/exactly‑once).
Make consumers idempotent. Use idempotency keys, dedup windows, and safe retries to handle duplicates and partial failures.
Control backpressure: bounded queues, rate limits, worker concurrency caps, exponential backoff with jitter, and a dead letter queue for poison messages.
