Maya has won several awards for her professional work, one of them being the Kittur Rani Chennamma award for women's empowerment from the Karnataka State Government in 2019. Padma Shri Dr Kamini A. Rao is a pioneer in the field of Assisted Reproduction in India. Specialized in reproductive endocrinology, ovarian physiology and assisted reproductive technology, she has also been credited with the birth of India's First SIFT Baby. She is also the medical director at Milann - The Fertility Specialists.
