Incredible Isaan - Northeast Thailand Adventure 4K

Описание к видео Incredible Isaan - Northeast Thailand Adventure 4K

The Isaan region of Northeastern Thailand is beautiful but largely ignored by tourists. I travelled to the furthest reaches of Isaan with my family over the New Year period at the turn of the decade.

The first stop was the provincial capital of Sakhon Nakhon. This university town sits on the shore of one of Thailand's biggest lakes: Nong Han. Dotted with a multitude of islands, Nong Han lake features extensive Red Lotus flower seas which are at their most beautiful early in the morning. There are also herds of semi-wild buffaloes which swim from island to island to find the best grazing.

We then headed to Nakhon Phanom province, on the shores of the mighty Mekong River and the border with Laos. Here we spent New Year's eve on top of the tallest peak in Phu Langka National Park. We also made a day trip to the neighbouring province of Bueng Kan to visit the impressive 3 Whale Rock and brave the terrifying wooden walkways of the 'lonely mountain', Phu Thok.

The last day was spent in the provincial capital Nakhon Phanom town. Featuring a truly astounding view of the mountains of Laos, this bustling town is growing popular with Thai travellers. Our trip ended with a quick visit to the That Phanom temple - one of the most famous in the region - where hordes of pilgrims walk in circles around the central 'chedi'.

Isaan is an incredible place and well worth a visit!

This video was largely shot on an iPhone 11 Pro with a few GoPro Hero 7 and Osmo Pocket shots mixed in.
