How to Read Novels in a Foreign Language | The Guide

Reading novels in a foreign language is hard! Why is that? Because in novels, the authors use many words to describe what’s going on and to set the scenery that we probably wouldn’t use regularly in spoken language.

On the other hand, reading is a great activity to learn a language, and it feels awesome to dive into a story and immerse yourself into it.

I have just read my first complex novel in French → Les Particules Elementaires and it has been so great. I can’t describe the feeling of being able to just read it without looking things up, and also being able to listen to the audiobook and to understand it. Now I want to show you, how you can do it too, without all the errors I made of course.
