As tensions between the two nations persist five months after the AUKUS submarine catastrophe, France has removed Australia from its list of strategic partners in the Indo-Pacific area.
Last year, Australia stated that it will form an Aukus collaboration with the United States and the United Kingdom to buy at least eight nuclear-powered submarines which was viewed by President Emmanuel Macron as a betrayal. In retaliation, France briefly withdrew its ambassadors from Australia and the United States.
France says Biden imitated Trump in order to derail the submarine contractdeal with Australia.

The French president has told Australian Prime Minister that the cancellation of a multibillion-dollar submarine deal "damaged the trust " and that Canberra should take "concrete initiatives" to repair the diplomatic rupture.
