Droplets of deionised liquid water on a cooling metal surface solidify into ice as the temperature decreases. An ice nucleus within the droplet acts as a seed for crystallisation. The crystallisation wave front can be seen propagating through the liquid after nucleation. Recorded at The University of Manchester, England.
