Causal organism : - Chilli leaf curlvirus (Begomo virus ), sub group: - Bigeminivirus, Vectors(Transmitted by) : - Whitefly (Bemisia tabaciGenn.).

Leaf curl is a serious problem in chilli cultivation. This disease causes heavy losses in the yield and quality of fruits. The disease is transmitted by the whitefly.

Symptoms:-

1.Curling of leaves and swelling of veins.

2. Leaves size and plant height reduced.

3. Fruits colour become yellowish.

4. Increasing flower and fruit drops.

5. Anther do not contain pollen grains.

6. Fruits production reduced.

Management:-

1. Infected plants should be uprooted and destroyed.

2. Avoid monoculture of chilli crop.

3. Selection of healthy and virus free seed.

4. Avoid pyrethroid pesticides.

5. Treatment of seed with imidacloprid 70% @ 10 gm / kg seed.

6. Treated seed should be washed and dried before sowing.

7. Cover nursery bed with nylon net and straw for protect seedlings.

8. Use whitefly yellow sticky board 20 nos/ acare.

9. Use border crops (maize and sorghum).

10. use chemical insecticide.

Spray Thiamethoxam 25% WG @ 1 gm/2 lit.,

Spray Acetamiprid 20% SP @ 1gm/2 lit.,
Spray Flonicamid 50%WG @ 1 gm/ 3 lit. of water.
