This is a simple physics tutorial aimed at high school students in grades 9 and 10 (GCSE, HSC) exploring what the difference is between speed and velocity.

Speed tells us how far an object or person is travelling, but it doesn't tell us what direction its travelling in. This makes it a scalar quantity. Velocity on the other hand tells us both the magnitude (i.e. how fast something's travelling) as well as direction - this makes it a vector measurement.
