Welcome to our tour of Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Canada! We'll take you through the historic delights of one of Canada's cutest towns!

Niagara-on-the-Lake is a charming town in Canada and a perfect place to visit during a trip to Niagara Falls. We personally stayed here during our summer trip to Niagara Falls.

There are several things to do in Niagara-on-the-Lake that doesn't include visiting wineries. This town is filled with history! In this Niagara-on-the-Lake travel vlog, we'll offer a guide of things to do and see in this beautiful area of Canada.

We'll start with a quick backstory about the history of Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) in terms of how it was founded. This town had a front-row seat to many battles of the War of 1812 and would not be standing today, if it weren't for the determination of its residents to rebuild after the war.

A building that played an integral part to the War of 1812 is the McFarland House. It's in your best interest to get the Niagara Falls Adventure Pass, if you plan to visit these locations we feature, as you'll get a big discount. We'll explain how the McFarland House was used during the war and we even got to tour the former residence. You can see every room of the house, which was so cool!

We ventured into the historic, downtown are of Niagara-on-the-Lake, which has been dubbed Canada's cutest town by multiple agencies. The show-stopper of this Canadian town is the Prince of Wales Hotel. Its Victorian architecture, horse-drawn carriage rides, and afternoon teas are something out of a movie. The hotel has been a staple of NOTL for over 150 years and got is name from some Royal guests--even though the guests didn't have the best experience there...

A popular spot in downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake is Queen's Royal Park. This sits off of Lake Ontario and offers a great view of Fort Niagara in New York. This park is a perfect place to spend a summer's day and has even been featured in several films due to its charming atmosphere.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is home to the most adorable chapel we have ever seen: Living Water Wayside Chapel. This tiny chapel was made with tourists in-mind and only seats about six people. It's one of the many free things to do in Niagara-on-the-Lake and we highly recommend visiting and stepping inside.

One unique thing about Niagara-on-the-Lake is its apothecary. The Niagara Apothecary has been standing since 1820. Although it's no longer an active apothecary, it's been beautifully restored and is now a free museum that transports you right back to the Victorian era.

Lastly, the Memorial Clock Tower is somewhat of a beacon in Niagara-on-the-Lake and can be seen from most of the shops and restaurants downtown. This memorial was built to remember those who died in WWI but it caused a battle of its own, among residents of NOTL when it was going to be built.

Whether you're doing a day trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake or a whole getaway, these locations are some you must see when you visit this quaint Canadian town. It's such a nice escape from the cluster of tourists in Niagara Falls and emits a calming energy that is much-needed on vacation.
