There was a large scale hack that targeted a number of high-profiled individuals and corporations. These hacks include accounts of politicians, entertainers, businessmen and many more. To name a few individuals targeted, Jeff bezos, Elon Musk, Kim Kardashian-West, Apple, Uber, Kanye west, Bill Gates and many others. Twitter and these accounts were compromised, in a series of messages which asked followers to send money to a specific bitcoin account in order to receive double pay. This raises the question of vulnerability of these major social media platforms.

It also raises the discussions of bitcoin and how this platform can and has been used for illegal activities.
