Quail Burgers and Manna Fries

This video is an excerpt from Steve Feldman's "Passover Seder" teaching at First Assembly of God in Jefferson City, MO in 2015.

Steve, a Messianic Jew, teaches on the Old Testament Judaism roots of New Testament Christianity. He teaches on how Jesus prophetically fulfilled every element in the Jewish Passover Seder Service and how Jesus instituted the Christian Communion Service right out of the Jewish Passover Seder Service.

BACKSTORY (by Steve):
I have written many songs since I became a Christian, so I had a reputation of being a song writer in the music ministry group I was in at my church. That music ministry group also traveled to other cities to give concerts in the early 1980s. One night, after our music ministry gave a concert in Sedalia, Missouri, we were on our way back to Jefferson City, Missouri, and we were trying to get back before 11:00 p.m. because that’s when the McDonald’s in town closed! I was sitting in the back seat of the car with Doug, our sound man, when he said, “I sure am hungry. I hope with get back to Jefferson City in time to eat” Then he wondered out loud, “I wonder what the modern day equivalent of quail and manna would be…I KNOW…quail burgers and manna fries!” He turned and looked at me and said, “Write a song about that, Steve!” I looked back at him and said, “I am NOT going to write a song about THAT”, and I completely dismissed the idea! One day, as I was tuning up my guitar for practice and strumming it to warm up my fingers, I shouted to my wife, “QUICK…get me paper and a pencil!” Before she got back, the WHOLE SONG of “Quail Burgers and Manna Fries” was in my head, and all I had to do was start writing. When I started writing, the pencil never left the page, and the lyrics PLUS the music all came out as if I were merely taking dictation from the Lord…I had no mental faculties involved at all. I threw the song in my guitar case and thought to myself, “OK, so I wrote another song.” Shortly thereafter, I was over at Marty's house, the leader of the music ministry and I said to him, “Remember that song Doug wanted me to write about quail burgers and manna fries? Well, I wrote it…do you want to hear it?” He said yes, so I asked if I could borrow his guitar, and I played it for him. He said, “You’re going to play that this coming Sunday at the church service”, and I said, “No, I’m NOT…it is NOT a church worship song!” It was more of a fun comical song! We were doing our usual praise and worship ministry that following Sunday when Marty announced into his microphone, “And now Steve Feldman is going to perform a new song he wrote called ‘Quail Burgers and Manna Fries’!” My jaw tightened a little because he put me on the spot and I couldn’t get OUT it! So, I played and sang the song, and they LOVED it…and the rest, as they say, is history! It is now my most requested song in my traveling ministry called “Messianic Joy Ministries”, and I always play it before I minister on the Passover, because it is a song about the Exodus! When I return to churches where I had ministered years earlier, they STILL REMEMBER that song!"
