साधारण शादियाँ, बड़ा संदेश: दहेज मुक्त विवाह ने बदल दी किस्मतें! सतलोक आश्रम, सोजत, राजस्थान
At Satlok Ashram in Sojat, Pali, followers of Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj celebrated the second day of a three-day grand congregation with a powerful social message: dowry-free marriages. The event featured 23 couples married in a simple, dignified way—no DJs, no elaborate rituals, and no monetary exchanges. Instead, the ceremonies followed the teachings of their guru: emphasis on spiritual vows, tying of protective threads, and invoking the sacred fire and hymns. Families, volunteers and guests praised the arrangement for being respectful, safe for women, and free from the usual ostentation and financial burden of modern weddings. The Ashram provided free traditional meals (laddoo, jalebi, rotis, rice) to all attendees. Multiple brides’ relatives shared how this model spared families from harassment and debt, and gave daughters a dignified start in married life. Volunteers explained that neither bride nor groom bore any expense. This initiative aims to eliminate the “dowry monster” and promote equality, security, and simplicity in marriages. Watch the coverage to see interviews with couples, family members, and organizers, and witness how a religious community is driving a social reform that could inspire many others to adopt dowry-free customs.
