One of the defects of liquid phase sintered alumina ceramics: oil spots
95 porcelain sometimes has oil spots during production, also known as dark spots, cloud spots or shadow spots, which are similar to the marks of oil or ink drops on paper, and vary in size. This phenomenon is common in 95 alumina ceramics, especially on large-sized and thin-sheet products. Oil spots are mostly hidden inside the porcelain parts and can only be found under light. In severe cases, they will appear on the surface.

The cause of oil spots is more complicated. It is not caused by impurities in the raw materials. It is mainly related to the ceramic formula, especially the ratio, particle size and mixing method of inorganic sintering aids (commonly known as small materials) with the main materials. The following measures can be taken to control it:

1. Scientifically proportion inorganic sintering aids to ensure effective grinding and sufficient mixing;
2. Formulate a reasonable firing curve to ensure that the debinding process has sufficient temperature and time;
3. Strengthen the exhaust of the kiln and optimize the ventilation conditions;
4. Within the firing temperature range, increase the firing temperature as much as possible or appropriately extend the residence time in the high temperature section.
