What are the risks for objects in our collections? What can we do to protect them before, during, and after disaster strikes? This international conference looked into preparation, response, training, research, and networks to address and mitigate the effect of disasters on cultural heritage. „Focus on Conservation 2024: Disaster Risk Management for Cultural Heritage“ was collectively created by Smithsonian, ICOM-CC, ICOM-Brazil, ICOM-DRMC, Leibniz-Research Network “Preservation”, Deutsches Museum, Museum für Naturkunde and Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum. It was funded by the Leibniz-Association, by the “Strategiefonds”.
Nearly 1900 individual from 109 countries registered and over 1000 people attended the conference sessions at the beginning of December 2024.
Focus on Conservation / Konservierung im Fokus is a conference series by the Leibniz Research Network “Preservation”.
