Dr. Yuan Tian presents "Optimizing Software Project Management with AI-powered Tracking Tools" at the University of Windsor School of Computer Science Colloquium Series on October 27, 2023.

Abstract:
Modern software project management can be challenging due to the increasing complexity of software systems, rapidly changing technology stacks, and the need to balance competing demands of time and budget. In addition, effective communication and collaboration between stakeholders can be difficult to achieve, and changing requirements can lead to delays in software releases. In this talk, I will present how AI-powered tracking tools can assist project managers in navigating these challenges. I will focus on two critical areas of software project management: technical debt management and pull request management. Finally, I will discuss the potential risks and lessons learned from designing and implementing these tools.

Biography:
Dr. Yuan Tian is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing at Queen's University, Canada. She is an expert in improving the development and management of complex software systems by leveraging automated approaches and machine-learning techniques. Dr. Tian leads the RISE research lab which develops reliable and intelligent support for software development. RISE’s current research topics include automatic technical debt and bug management, pull-based code change management, Large Language Model for software engineering, and social science in software engineering. Before joining Queen's, Dr. Tian was a data scientist at the Living Analytics Research Centre (LARC) at Singapore. She visited Carnegie Mellon University in 2015 and Inria Paris in 2013.
