Exclusive interview about yoo Hotels & Resorts' expansion plans in Asia Pacific and beyond. In this interview, filmed with Andrew Pang, Managing Partner of Yoo FK, on 20 February 2019 just after the press conference in Bangkok, Steven Howard of TravelNewsAsia.com asks Andrew to tell us what the press conference was all about, and why they have chosen Bangkok for their regional HQ. We discuss the company's expansion plans, why yoo feels it is the right time to launch a new hotel brand, how the two hotel brands under yoo are different, and what targets the company has in terms of the number of properties in the region and globally within the next few years. Andrew tells us why yoo chose to work with Onyx Hospitality and not one of the many other hotel management companies in the region, and we ask him to tell us more about their yoo2 project in Phuket which is expected to break ground later this year with opening scheduled for end-2020. Andrew also tells us where the second yoo hotel will be in this region, and Steven asks about the only yoo hotel in the world that is currently open and how that property, which is in Brazil and managed by a different management company, will work with future yoo2 hotels in terms of loyalty programmes and the like.
