Zinc is an over-the-counter supplement that will stop production of hydrochloric acid. Zink considered to be safe alternative to PPIs such as Omeprazole (Prilosec), Esomeprazole (Nexium), Lansoprazole (Prevacid), Rabeprazole (AcipHex) and Pantoprazole (Protonix). Zinc is safe to use to decrease production of hcl and helpful to people who have GERD, acid reflux, laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), Silent reflux, Gastroesophageal reflux disease or heartburn.

Zn will decrease stomach acid and symptoms of GERD/acid reflux, laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR)/Silent reflux/ Gastroesophageal reflux disease or heartburn will subside for up to 4 hours.


Zinc is safe , but not free of side effect. The most common side effect of Zinc is nausea. I recommend to start with 30 mg of Zn and if its working then you may increase the dose.
There are also foods that are high in Zinc: oysters, crab, shrimp, seeds such as hemp, pumpkin, squash and pine nuts.


if Zink is not working for you then the cause of your GERD/acid reflux, laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR)/Silent reflux/ Gastroesophageal reflux disease or heartburn is not due to high production of hydrochloric acid
