WWE WrestleMania 2027 has been officially confirmed to take place in Saudi Arabia—and during a recent appearance at the Joy Forum, WWE President Nick Khan explained in detail why the Kingdom was chosen as the event's next major venue.

According to Khan, WWE's global strategy goes far beyond simply broadcasting its shows around the world—it requires a real presence, solid connections, and local operations.

"It was a natural next step for us. At WWE, we realized a few years ago that we can't just channel American products globally and expect to be a global product. You really have to have boots on the ground. We're in the eighth year of a long-term partnership with Turki Al-Sheikh and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We're bringing the Royal Rumble here at the end of January. It's the first time the Royal Rumble...will take place outside the U.S. or Canada. WrestleMania 2027 will be here in April of that year, the first time WrestleMania will be outside the U.S. or Canada. We're excited. We think the ratings will be strong. ...We're going to put on a show. WWE has received several different offers from entities outside the U.S., and for me...it's all about relationships. ...That's what Turki and [Saudi] did with us, repeatedly. We got together for a few different meetings, closed the deal in a short amount of time, and were fortunate enough to announce it the day before Canelo-Crawford, our first match together in Las Vegas. "Vegas" - Khan said.

Khan also emphasized that, despite receiving other international offers, the decision was based on long-standing relationships.
The official announcement was made on September 12, and now Khan's statements clarify the vision and reasoning behind the choice.
