Today we are discussing about what is Lok Adalat,
Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute redressal mechanisms, it is a forum where disputes/cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage are settled/ compromised amicably.

What happens in a court case, is either one party will win and other has to loose the case, But this can be a win win situation if both complainer and respondent approach in Lok Adalat, which has been introduced in Legal Services authority act 1987,
This systems works in various levels,
Such as,
National Leval - National Legal Services Authority,
State Level - State Legal Services Authority,
District Level - District Legal Services Authority,
Mandal Level - Mandal Legal Services Authority,

1 - People can approach legal services authorities in any stage of case, like investigation, under Trail even before the date of judgement also.
2 - If a case compromised in Lok Adalat, complainant or Respondent have no right to appeal on the award passed by Legal Services Authority.
3 - In Every 3 Months Mega Lok Adalat will be conducted as per the instructions of Hon'ble supreme court of India.
4 - Beauty of the Lok Adalat in civil cases is that, Plaintiff can get back his total court fees.
