Corrosion allowance (CA) is the additional thickness of metal added to allow for piping and equipment material lost by uniform corrosion. Material thickness in excess of the minimum required thickness to allow for metal loss during the service life of the piping component. CA expressed in terms of thickness, is a measure of extra thickness with which a material can survive its design life.
