The cast saw we use at OUCH Pediatric Orthopedics is specifically designed to cut through hard material like casts using an oscillating, specially coated blade that will cut through the fiberglass quickly, but as you notice at the start of the video, it will not cut skin, either on the palm or on the soft side of the forearm (it will not even cut a plastic glove nor a balloon- it's that safe!). It is a little loud but completely safe to use. So, do not worry about the saw or the scissors (they are designed for cutting through the gauze and soft sock lining next to your skin, and not your skin).
