Pathankot airport was inaugurated by Aviation Minister Praful Patel on the outskirts of Pathankot and Himachal, but now this airport has been closed for the past 10 years and no work should be done to start it again. The airport was built on 104 acres of land costing around 38 crores.After nearly a year when airport started ,theair port was closed due to which the people are facing huge problems. Local MPs say that this airport will be started soon but every time there is only assurance ,In reality no effort is made to start airport again. Local people said that the closure of Pathankot Airport has caused heavy losses to the merchants. The tourists stayed in Pathankot due to the airport , so that the means of employment for the hotel industry, travel industry and small businesses were open. But after the closure of the airport, the tourists who used to come to Pathankot first, now they go straight to Himachal or Jammu Kashmir from Amritsar, which has affected the business of Pathankotmerchants .Now people demand that the government should start this airport soon. When talking to the businessmen of Pathankot, he said that Pathankot MLA AmitVij is talking about putting the industry in the district, but this is possible only when the Pathankot Airport will start .
