Shapiro is a Washington Monthly contributing writer, chairman of the economic consulting firm Sonecon, and a senior fellow at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. He has served as Undersecretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs under President Bill Clinton and as an advisor to the Obama administration.
