Join me for a late-night sea fishing session at Dungeness, starting about two hours before high tide and ending an hour after.
Apologies in advance for the video quality—recording with a phone on such a windy night wasn’t easy!
We parked up opposite the Dungeness Lighthouse and were surprised to see so many anglers out despite the conditions. With the wind blowing hard and the current pushing strong, I stuck to 5 oz weights (the heaviest my gear can handle).
For bait, I used:
Squid strips
Whole small squid
Prawn
Over roughly three hours of fishing, the bites were nonstop—dogfish after dogfish! I was hoping to land a few cod, but luck wasn’t on our side this time. After a long run of dogfish and the tide turning, we wrapped up about an hour after high tide.
