Alexis Bouvy is an independent consultant working on conflict related issues in the Eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is currently co-director and co-founder of "Local Voices", a non profit organization aiming at sharing local insights on international issues in a lively and human way. Together with his friend François Van Lierde, they seized the opportunity of the 2011 general elections in Congo to give a different view on the electoral process, a view that is not the one of the mainstream media but rather the one of ordinary congolese citizens living in rural, remote and often insecure areas. They wanted to tell the story of the elections through the eyes and words of its most fundamental but often forgotten stakeholder : the congolese people. Representing the "Local Voices" team at TEDxIHECS, Alexis Bouvy takes us during his talk on a inspiring journey where the voices of ordinary people bring hope and positive change as they resonate more than ever on a global scale.
