Here's a fun Birdie Brooch, which can be put on the front of a greeting card to make a gift and card 'all in one'. My cat Leo, loved getting involved too!
I used 0.8mm (20-gauge) for the framework, 0.4mm gauge for weaving (and colouring in) with seed beads, plus a ready made brooch finding for the back.
I do hope this inspires you to create your own versions.
