NEW DICTIONARY WORDS
More than 6000 new words have just been added to The Cambridge Dictionary, including some social media slang like skibidi. Other internet slang like dululu, broligarchy, and lewk have also made the cut and been officially added to the Cambridge Dictionary. It's not the first dictionary to add words like this though. In fact in 2023, "Rizz" won Oxford Dictionary's word of the year. The Cambridge experts reckon these words are "changing the English language" and will stick around for the long run.

TRUMP & PUTIN MEETING
US president Donald Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin caught up over the weekend in Alaska for their first meeting since 2019. While both leaders said the meeting was a success, no ceasefire agreement or peace deal was made for the war in Ukraine. Now, President Trump is set to meet with Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who'll be accompanied by European and NATO leaders at a big meeting in Washington.

BASKETBALL
The Boomers have lifted the Asia Cup for the 3rd time in a row after a nail-biting 90-89 victory over China. China took off to a flying start. But Xavier Cooks led the fight back, putting up 30 points, earning himself the title of MVP. And there couldn't have been a tighter finish, with China missing a shot on the buzzer that would have won the game!

RUGBY
To continue the theme in winning, the Wallabies have come out on top after smashing the Springboks 38-22 at the Rugby Championship opener. The Springboks raced to a 22- nil lead, but the wallabies soon made a comeback to secure their 1st win at Ellis park in 62 years!

ASH CENTRA
Now check this out. Number 1 pick Ash Centra from Collingwood pulled out this brand new move during her warm-up at the opening round of the AFLW season. It sent the footy world into a frenzy, and a lot of players have been trying it out for themselves, with mixed results.

LAWN MOWER RACE
First up, to the 12-hour lawn mower race in England. The event saw 40 teams whizz round a 1.4 kilometer track 420 times. Unfortunately for any purists out there, the lawn mowers have all had their blades removed for safety reasons.

VERY OVERDUE BOOK
First up, to a library in Texas, which has just had an overdue book returned after 82 years. Yes, this book was checked out by a woman by the name of Maria back in July of 1943, and was just recently dropped off by her grandson accompanied by a letter. Luckily, the library scrapped late fees back in 2021, otherwise phew, that would've been a big one.

BIG OMELETTE
And finally, to thousands of eggs being cracked to make one enormous omelette in Belgium. It's a tradition which dates back about 50 years, organised by the World Fraternity of the Knights of the Giant Omelette. Now, look, we might have to check their definition of what an omelette is because that's starting to look a bit more like scrambled eggs to me.
