Abandoned Mine Tubway, Park Hall Colliery, Cheadle, Closed 1930, Cheadle Coalfield, Stoke on Trent

Описание к видео Abandoned Mine Tubway, Park Hall Colliery, Cheadle, Closed 1930, Cheadle Coalfield, Stoke on Trent

A fascinating stroll up and down the remains of the former tubway that ran from Cheadle, over the main Cheadle Road and Dilhorne Road, to Park Hall Colliery, part of the Cheadle Coalfield.
Starting at Dilhorne Road where one bridge parapet still stands, we walk along the embankment to a point about a hundred yards from the site of the old mine.
The line affords great views across Brookhouses.
Horses were used on the route until 1930 when it closed. Some relics survived until the late 1970's when the surviving bridge parapet on Cheadle Road, looking like a leaning wall, was demolished, along with one in Dilhorne Road, leaving the remains of the line we see today with a severed section blackened with slack and coal dust.
An interesting place to explore although it is doubtful if even one bolt survives from 1930.
