Women Left Behind: The quest to access land

Meet Blandine, Rifkatou and Aicha. Three women who have been forced to flee their homes and leave behind their main source of income: their land.

As they try to start a new life in the Far North region of Cameroon, they face many challenges. Because of their status and the cultural norms that surround them, they are unable to access land to support themselves and their families. Their story is an all too common one in this region, which has been profoundly affected by insecurity in the Lake Chad Basin for the past decade.

In this short documentary film, we explore the challenges faced by refugees and other displaced people, especially women, when trying to claim their housing, land and property rights.
