Hidden Love star Zhao Lusi admits to mental and physical abuse, depression

Chinese actor Zhao Lusi, known for her role in the Netflix drama Hidden Love, was recently hospitalised. A picture of her in a wheelchair drew attention to her health struggles. Zhao has now shared her experiences of abuse and mental health challenges on her official Weibo account. She revealed her weight had once dropped to 36.7 kg but has since improved with her parents' help.

In a detailed statement, she revealed her struggles with depression, childhood abuse, and various health issues, including pneumonia, emphysema, and neurogenic hearing loss, among others.

Her statement, translated into English, expressed regret for getting public attention but clarified her situation. She admitted to previously not allowing her health issues to impact her work or those around her. Zhao Lusi acknowledged her tendency to endure and realised her limitations only recently. She expressed gratitude for her career and the support from fans because of it, while advocating for individuals' rights to choose their paths and escape distressing situations.
