Mountain Whitefish. One of the most common salmonids of western North America. In fact, Idaho Fish and Game says that where whitefish and trout coexist that whitefish often outnumber trout by 5 to 10 times! These native fish of Idaho are found in many rivers and lakes around the sate and often are overlooked for the more sophisticated trout. But should they be?

Whitefish, in my opinion, are one of the best tasting fish our waters have to offer. Many know they are good smoked but if you've never tried them pan fried you are missing out!
