The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved another milestone as its GSLV rocket carrying the navigation satellite NVS-01 lifted off from Sriharikota on Monday. The launch aimed to enhance the continuity of Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) services. NavIC, considered an Indian regional satellite navigation system similar to GPS, provides accurate and real-time navigation within the country and up to 1,500 km around the mainland. The NVS-01 satellite, equipped with navigation payloads L1, L5, and S bands, will also feature an indigenously developed rubidium atomic clock. With a cluster of seven satellites and ground stations operating 24x7, NavIC offers interoperable services with other global navigation systems like GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou.
