Culturally Speaking, the culture means different things to different people. For some, it’s entertainment. For some, it’s economy. Yet for others, it’s spiritual-like. Whatever it means to whomever, the two are integral. Even during times of suffering and disaster, pandemics and heartbreak, it’s the culture that represents our resilience. Our culture is all we got! #engagetheculture

When I filmed this, my heart was filled with emotions and because my kids were present, I was able to hold the tears back. Percy and I last performed on March 14th for a wedding parade. We never thought that would be our last event as the global pandemic would change our lives. This culture, OUR culture is about so much more than entertainment and tourism. As culture-bearers, we’ve become global citizens, experiencing what none of our geography teachers could’ve prepared us for. The talking heads and politicians have been silent regarding us, no mentions and no support, but I assure you they’ll be looking for us to “market” the city. The culture means different things to different people. #engagetheculture
