"Well I wrote this song called 'Waterloo Sunset' years ago and it was a big hit obviously and I have re-recording it on this album with the Kinks Choral Collection just coming out and they thought it would be an interesting idea to come back to the south bank, this is roughly where I first thought of the idea and performed it here and so that is why I am here tonight doing it."

WATERLOO SUNSET AT WATERLOO BRIDGE
Ray Davies, frontman for 60's group The Kinks, performed his classic hit 'Waterloo Sunset' on Waterloo Bridge in London on Thursday night (11JUNE09).
The one off performance was to promote the release of The Kinks Choral Collection which comes out on next week.
The album includes a new recording of the hit track which was first released by The Kinks in 1967.
"The Kinks Choral Collection is just coming out and they thought it would be an interesting idea to come back to the south bank, this is roughly where I first thought of the idea," explained Davies.
The new version was recorded with the 65-strong Crouch End Festival Chorus who Davies collaborated with at the Electric Proms in 2007
The Choral Collection by Ray Davies is released on 15 June
