Behind the scenes - making a video for YouTube Ft.Tool Girl Jade

Описание к видео Behind the scenes - making a video for YouTube Ft.Tool Girl Jade

It's been a while now since I uploaded my very first video to YouTube, and a lot has happened in the last 2 and a half years that's for sure!

But I'm often asked what's involved in making a 'YouTube' channel. Sure, the set-up is relatively straight forward, but it's the content that makes the channel. Sure, anyone can upload raw footage of 'stupid' clips taken wherever but when it comes to building a dedicated channel with a theme, a style, an image & videos that go through a post-shoot edit, that takes time...

As of today, 17th August 2018, I have uploaded something like 540 videos to the channel, that is a ton of work. I have a routine, you need one, Saturday is 'filming' day, Saturday night is spent editing. Sunday is often spent completing workshop jobs (sometimes filmed too) then Monday to Friday is spent doing my 'day job' but at least 2 evenings are spent finishing off the editing from the weekend's filming. Then it all starts again!

So....with an average video length of around 30 minutes these take time to set up (prep), 1 to 2 hours to film, then maybe another hour or so to edit then another 30 mins or so to upload. That's around 4 hours a video, so in the region of 4,000 hours over the past 32 months, or 125 hours a month, or 29 hours a week on top of a job that takes up a minimum 40 hours a week. So, it's a real commitment in time.

So, enough of that, here's a video to just help give you an insight into what's involved...
