I’m trying the new @pantene’s new Pro-Vitamin Essence! Coming out of a protective style can be rough on the hair due to extreme detangling, which is a form of mechanical or physical hair damage to the hair. And Pantene claims that this pretty little bottle can repair damage that causes breakage & split ends. So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to put this lightweight mist to the test!

Immediately I already know that this has to be a heavy hitter when it comes to repairing damage because the second and third ingredients are Panthenol and Pantheyl Ethyl Ether, only after water. These are both the pro-vitamin derivatives of Vitamin B5. Due to Panthenol’s small molecular weight, panthenol is known to penetrate the hair cuticle efficiently, reaching the cortex where it strengthens and repairs the hair from within which helps to reduce split ends and breakage. Panthenol also protects and nourishes the hair by smoothing the cuticle layer.

Panthenyl Ethyl Ether is an ether derivative of panthenol. The presence of this ethyl group makes it more soluble in oils and lipids which can enhance its penetration and retention in the hair cortex. So it’s clear to me that these two ingredients together form a Pro-Vitamin B5 powerhouse pairing for better penetration and performance.

I’m a few days out of my protective style and I’ve been misting this on my hair every day to help strengthen my hair after some pretty intense detangling. I love how light and non-greasy it is.
