Palpatine was a passionate individual, who unlike his apprentice, enjoyed the luxuries that power brought him. In his younger years, he had been a thrill seeker and had even desired to be a speeder bike racer. However as he grew older he utilised thrillseeking and risk taking within his Sith work and his free time tastes matured. When taking a break from scheming and running the Republic, Palpatine enjoyed opera, philosophy and even poetry. After the rise of the empire, his past times became much more sadistic and he would often force Jedi to fight each other. He also enjoyed writing, espousing his views, his life and even his dark side teachings in various books
