Get in (the 2nd) Line for snare drum with bass drum accompaniment is a nod to the Second Line style of music from New Orleans. The snare drum part is rudimental in nature, using both classic and contemporary ideas, but the bass drum syncopates in a way that is meant to mimic the unique syncopations from the traditional New Orleans second line style. It's a short work, meant to serve as an interlude within a larger concert or recital. I think both drum set players and non-set players will enjoy the coordination contained within.
