Between June 10 and June 17, 2017, we went to Illinois to capture a variety of of railroading in the state, from the hustle and bustle of Metra commuter traffic in Chicago and its suburbs to the 70 mph running of freights in flat open landscapes. This installment covers the final days of our week's stay in the Prairie State. On the 16th of June, the seventh and second-to final day of the trip, we start our day in Odell, a pleasant little town along Historic Route 66 and UP's Joliet Subdivision. After catching the northbound Texas Eagle, we head toward Verona, making a quick pit stop for drinks and food at the Casey's in Mazon. As the day faded, we took a trip back to Odell, to see a couple of Amtrak trains make all of the area's 110 mph track speed. We rolled out of Odell in the cover of night back to our room in Norway, IL. The next morning, after checking out of our hotel, we set our sights on the 80th Avenue station in Tinley Park to see Nickel Plate Road Berkshire No. 765 (This whole thing was a coincidence; we didn't know about the Joliet Rocket excursion until after our room was booked). After two Metra trains arrived and departed from 80th, Smoke appeared on the horizon to the west. Sure enough, it was the 765, passing by and creating a perfect end to our stay in the Land of Lincoln. Sometime, I hope to come back and see more of what the state has to offer.

P.S., While in Odell (for the second time), I talked to a group of nice people, one of which with a YouTube channel. If you would like to help him out, please check out Electro Gamer's channel.
